Upgrading your hiring process : the benefits of video recruitment!

January is the month for looking forward and fulfilling your first resolutions. It’s the time of year where you get to strategise, generate ideas, and come up with goals that you’d like to achieve this year. With this renewed energy you might be thinking of upgrading your recruitment processes to include video. At Cammio, we of course think that’s a great idea! Let us help you understand the benefits of video recruitment.

Find out the personality behind the CV

We’ve already said our goodbyes to the motivational letter. Have you? If you haven’t yet, there’s a good chance that you’re reading very similar letters over and over again, very well produced by team candidate (you know, the candidate and all their proofreaders). The reason we used motivational letters in the past was to find out more about a candidate’s personality. On camera, candidates have a chance to showcase it in a more genuine way, that cannot be influenced by having more people “proofread” their video.

Reduce unconscious bias in your hiring process

As a recruiter, you will be striving to reduce bias in your hiring processes, but what about unconscious bias? One of the benefits of video interviewing  is that it allows you to have a standardised, structured interview, which means that you will ask every candidate the same question in the same way. Furthermore, you won’t need to rely on memory and notes to compare today’s candidate with the one from last week: you can simply watch (parts) of their interview again.

Candidate privacy

Last year we saw a big change in EU privacy regulations – the EU-GDPR came in effect. These regulations ensure that candidates and users of any kind have the power over their own data. When you’re asking candidates to record videos, of course that constitutes as getting more data from them. This is why you should use a solid video recruitment solution that offers first class security and data privacy over a solution that is powered by duct tape. Your candidates will benefit from the added security, and it will add to the feeling that your company takes their candidates seriously.

Using video creates candidate engagement

Video recruitment works both ways: You ask your candidates to record themselves, so it’s only fair that you record something for them. We encourage and support recruiters to record videos for introductions and questions in their automated interviews to add a personal touch. By having a high level of candidate engagement, you are able to stand out from your competitors and recruit the top talent everybody’s after. Using video on your careers page can also be beneficial in generating a higher click-through rate.

Increase your efficiency

We’re in a candidate-driven market, and the last thing you want is to spend a lot of time on a candidate that would fit in really well with your company only to find out a competitor offered them a contract first. Here’s where I present (for now) the last benefit of video recruitment: efficiency.

Sometimes it can be a scheduling nightmare just to get someone on the phone for a chat to get a first impression. With automated video interviews you can send the candidate an email through which they can provide their first impression at their convenience. You could be talking to someone on the other side of the world without having to set an alarm in the middle of the night! For live interviews, Cammio’s smart scheduling feature helps you schedule an interview with a candidate based on your availability.

This is just a selection from the many benefits of video recruitment. If you’d like to learn more, why not schedule a free online demo? If you have any benefits you’d like to share, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
